About Us
The idea of establishing a Presbyterian Church of Ghana (P.C.G.) in Queens, New York, began in November, 2008 through the unflinching efforts of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in New York, Manhattan Congregation. Rev. Yaw Asiedu, the then Minister in Charge with consultation of the elders, appointed Nana Kwaku Boakye, the Senior Presbyter and Mr. Samuel Boadu also a Presbyter to join Mr. Seth Ofori-Gyamerah a resident of Queens and a member of the new Preaching Point to look for a place of Worship and also to canvass for new members.
Frantic efforts were made from the beginning of the year 2009 to acquire a place of worship which at different times, took Nana Kwaku Boakye, Seth Ofori-Gyamerah, and Ms. Naomi Appiah, a resident of Queens to The First Presbyterian Church, St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, and Continental Ballroom, all in Queens which proved futile. The glory of God was manifested on Sunday September 20th, 2009 when Mr. Seth Ofori-Gyamerah acquired a place of worship at the Eternal Love Baptist Church (E.L.B.C.), Lefrak City, Queens. Series of meetings were held between the leadership of P.C.G. and E.L.B.C. after which they agreed to let us use their basement for our Sunday church services and prayer meetings and Bible studies on two other days for a weekly donation of $100.00. A joint church service was held between the two said churches on Sunday October 25, 2009. The first official church service was held on Sunday November 1, 2009 under the leadership of the Senior Presbyter Nana Kwaku Boakye. In attendance were Presbyters from P.C.G Manhattan, representa-tives from the Bible Study and Prayer Group and the Worship Committee.
The church started with (11) members (8 adults and 3 children). It is currently made up about of fifty (50) members (children inclusive). The Church currently worships at the First Presbyterian Church of Forest Hills, Queens (70-35 112th Street, Forest Hills, NY 11375).
